How we judge
Reescoop Reeltrove was founded on a simple principle: film criticism should serve the person deciding what to watch, not the marketing executives deciding what to sell. Below is our formal editorial code.
1. The Four Pillars of Our Assessment
Every critical verdict published in our pages undergoes scrutiny across four distinct disciplines:
- Narrative Economy & Pacing: Does the script justify its duration? Are sequence transitions motivated by character choice or arbitrary plot mechanics?
- Spatial Geography & Visual Language: Can the viewer track physical relationships, depth, and blocking during sequences, or does frantic editing mask poor staging?
- Acoustic Realism & Sound Staging: Is dialogue clean, audible, and grounded in room acoustic physics? Does the musical score enhance thematic subtext or simply bully the audience into sentimentality?
- Performance Authenticity: Do actors inhabit the psychological truth of their roles, or are they presenting rehearsed star mannerisms?
2. Conflict of Interest Guidelines
To ensure uncompromised objectivity, Reescoop Reeltrove writers and editors are strictly forbidden from:
• Accepting sponsored flights, hotel accommodations, or hospitality perks from film distributors.
• Writing paid copy or script consultant work for any production studio under current review.
• Holding direct equity or advisory positions in theatrical distribution entities.
• Trading editorial coverage for exclusive trailer premieres or celebrity red-carpet access.
